On July 21st, the reporter learned from the market supervision department of our city that according to the Announcement No. 9 of 2024 issued by the State Administration for Market Regulation, mandatory product certification management will be implemented for flame-retardant wires and cables from July 1st, 2024. Starting from July 1, 2025, flame-retardant wires and cables that have not obtained CCC certification and are marked with certification marks are not allowed to be manufactured, sold, imported, or used in other business activities.
Civil wires and cables, mainly used for building wiring and equipment power cords, are commonly encountered by citizens in their daily lives, and their product quality directly affects the personal and property safety of consumers. It is reported that the State Administration for Market Regulation has previously implemented CCC certification management for common non flame retardant civilian wire and cable products such as rubber insulation and polyvinyl chloride insulation.
In recent years, with the upgrading of technology and the increasing demand for use, the market share of flame-retardant wires and cables has been continuously increasing. However, due to the generally small scale of enterprises in the civilian wire and cable industry, the lack of systematic quality management methods, and fierce market competition, problems such as conductor discounts and the use of inferior cable materials in wires and cables have been repeatedly prohibited. Especially due to the lack of mandatory market access requirements for flame-retardant wires and cables, some companies even label their wires and cables that do not have flame-retardant properties as flame-retardant wires and cables, intentionally evading CCC certification supervision.
In accordance with the unified deployment of the State Council on strengthening product quality and safety supervision, the State Administration for Market Regulation has included flame-retardant civilian wires and cables in the scope of CCC certification implementation. It will strictly control market access, prevent wires and cables that do not meet standard requirements and have safety hazards from entering the market, and effectively achieve strict source control, process management, and risk control to ensure that the people can buy with confidence and use with ease.
